How to fix the imperfections?

Have you just bought an old house or flat and you are ready for its reconstruction? The reconstruction of the living space is rather an extensive project. On one hand, there is your idea of a dream home, on the other hand, there is the project implementation and the solving of problems that are related to the reconstruction.

A part of transformation from old to new is a replacement of the floor. A high quality, well-made  floor with the aesthetic taste simply gives you a feeling of stability. One considers it as something natural. In order to accomplish a high quality floor replacement, we need to have a flat surface on which we lay down the vinyl, laminate or wooden floor. If the surface is flat, which is the ideal situation, it is enough to lay the suitable floor underlay and subsequently install your dream floor.

What if the surface on which we plan to install a new floor is uneven? During the surface reconstruction work we discover that after removing an old surface, for example PVC or laminate, a high humidity or water from the piping system have caused the damage to the surface. On the surface there are various cracks, ruptures, swellings and the overall surface needs a thorough treatment.

What kinds of solutions are available for us? As long as the uneven defects are minor, up to 30 mm, for the purpose of surface balancing, or so-called levelling, we can apply self-levelling floor coating that will ensure the final balancing before installing the floor. If the unevenness and imperfections are visible and larger than 30mm then it is recommended to apply several layers of self-levelling floor screed to reach the smooth finish. Or to apply for instance the cement repair.

Imagine, the imperfections are negligible, it is alright to use a simple foam underlay. The floor underlays have various thickness, ranging from 1.5 to 7mm, and they are made of various insulation materials. So, depending on the nature of an uneven defect we can choose the right one. A simple solution.

in the end, it is important to say that you can solve some problems on your own. However, sometimes it is better to ask for the advice some building expert. It is purely upon you what kind of problem you need to sort out!
